Come and take a train ride with us. We depart Santa Apolonia Station, Lisbon, and arrive in Campanha Station, Porto.
After we arrive in Porto, we check into the hotel and head for dinner. We have an intimate, memorable meal at Camafeu; this one was really special. I start with a chestnut and mushroom soup, and follow with pork cheeks with chestnuts and sweet potato puree on a smear of raspberry. Finish with a lemon medley: merengue, curd, ice, and cream. We walk it off by heading to the Ponte Dom Luis I for the sunset -- follow along, just watch out for the gulls.
There is some kind of street fair or event on the Gaia side of the river, or maybe a competitive dance and sing deal like in Lisbon. Anyway, our first night in Porto is stunning.
