It's Tuesday, one week after Election Day. This is what has happened since the election was called on Saturday:
- Trump vowed not to concede, and has promised legal action to overturn the results;
- Trump's General Services Administrator Emily Murphy is refusing to sign the paperwork that will start the transition process for the transfer of power;
- Trump fired Secretary of Defense Mark Esper;
- Trump's Under Secretary of Defense for Policy James Anderson resigned after the firing;
- Attorney General Barr ordered federal prosecutors to investigate claims of voter fraud;
- Richard Pilger, Director of the Election Crimes Branch of the DOJ, resigned in protest of those orders;
- Trump's advisor leading the legal challenge to the election, David Bossie, tested positive for COVID-19;
- Trump's Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, tested positive for COVID-19;
- Trump's Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, (Dr) Ben Carson, tested positive for COVID-19;
- the total number of COVID-19 cases worldwide passed fifty million, and the global seven-day average for new cases is now over half a million;
- Pfizer announced early Phase 3 test results that show their vaccine is over ninety-percent effective;
- news of the Biden victory and the vaccine results sent stock markets around the world to new record highs;
- Jeopardy host Alex Trebek passed away from cancer;
- the vote count in Georgia (Georgia!) has swung so far toward the Democrats, it now seems certain that Biden will carry the state and, both senate elections will go to additional runoff elections in January.
There's more to do. No reason we can't celebrate and make good trouble at the same time. Stacey Abram's Fair Fight initiative has setup a donation page to help get out the vote for Rev Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff: gasenate.com.
